Writing the menu

  1. No. 01

    One dish per course

Give each course a name, the dish and a short description. If guests choose between dishes, add each choice as its own course line with the same course name.

  2. No. 02

    Use the marks sparingly

V, VG and GF are plain text you choose for each dish. A short key to the marks you used is added to the footer for you.

  3. No. 03

    Check with your caterer

The marks are what you type, not what we know about the food. Confirm every dish and every allergen with your caterer before you print.

  4. No. 04

Match the rest of the table

Choose the same style and colorway as your invitation and program so the cards on the table look like one set.

What goes with a printed menu

A menu card is part of a set. The wedding program maker prints the order of the ceremony in the same styles, and the wedding invitation maker lets the paper on the table echo the invitation.

Drinks need names too: the signature drink name generator writes ideas for the drinks list. To plan the cost of the meal, use the wedding reception cost calculator, and keep each guest's meal choice in the wedding guest list maker.

No. 05Questions

Good questions

About the wedding menu maker.

Is the wedding menu maker free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and puts no watermark on the file.

What can I put on the menu?

A title, an optional line with your names and a line with the date, up to 8 courses, each with a course name, a dish, a description and dietary marks, an optional drinks list and a footnote.

What do V, VG and GF mean?

V is vegetarian, VG is vegan and GF is gluten-free. They are text marks you switch on for each dish. They are not checked against the dish, so confirm each one, and any allergen, with your caterer.

What sizes can I download?

A 4 by 9 inch menu (1200 by 2700 pixels) or a 5 by 7 inch menu (1500 by 2100 pixels), both at 300 pixels per inch, as a PNG.

What if my menu is long?

The text shrinks to fit until it reaches its smallest readable size. If it still does not fit, the preview says so and highlights the courses: shorten the descriptions, remove a course or choose the taller 4 by 9 inch size.

Can I make a menu for a rehearsal dinner or a brunch?

Yes. The title, the course names and every line are plain text you write, so the same layout works for any meal.

Are my dishes saved or sent anywhere?

They are saved on your device so they are there when you come back, and nowhere else. The menu is drawn and turned into an image in your browser, and nothing goes to us.

Do you offer a photo menu or a printed menu?

No. This makes a PNG file in one of our seven styles. You print it yourself or take it to a print shop.
