No. 01What you can make

An hour-by-hour schedule built around your ceremony

Set when the ceremony starts and when the reception ends, then answer a few questions: how long the ceremony runs, whether there is a cocktail hour, and which dinner style you are serving. Tick any optional events you plan, such as group photos, toasts, first dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss, sunset photos or a send-off.

The tool lays the day out in order, with a start and end time for each block. Every length can be edited right in the schedule, so you can match what your photographer and venue have told you.

Press Copy as text to send it to your vendors, Print for a copy of just the schedule, or Download .ics to put the blocks in your calendar. That file needs your wedding date, so add it first.

No. 02How it works

Build your timeline in four steps

  1. No. 01

    Set the two fixed times

Choose when the ceremony starts and when the reception ends. Pick a ceremony length from the chips.

  2. No. 02

    Answer the day-of questions

Choose whether getting ready is worked out for you or set by hand, then pick the cocktail hour and your dinner style. Add travel between venues if the ceremony and reception are apart.

  3. No. 03

    Pick your optional events

Tick the events you want. If you enter a sunset time, sunset photos start then and do not move.

  4. No. 04

    Adjust and share

Change any length in the schedule and everything after it shifts. Then copy, print or download.

No. 03Good to know

How the order is worked out

The ceremony start is the one fixed point. Getting ready, the first look and (with a first look) group photos run back to back and end at the ceremony. After it, each block starts when the one before ends. Sunset photos and the send-off are the two exceptions: they sit at the time you choose and do not shift.

Gaps show up as open time, and an overlap or an overrun past the reception end brings a warning, not an error. If you are still pricing the reception itself, the reception cost calculator is a useful companion.

Your timeline and the words that fill it

The schedule says when things happen; these tools help with what happens.

No. 05Tips

Making the day run smoothly

  1. No. 01

    Start from the ceremony

The ceremony time is fixed, so everything else is built around it. Let the tool work out when getting ready should start.

  2. No. 02

    Edit the lengths

Every length is a starting assumption. Change any of them in the schedule and everything after it shifts.

  3. No. 03

    Mind the warnings

If a block overlaps another or runs past the end of the reception, the schedule says so. Shorten something or move the end time.

  4. No. 04

    Share it with your vendors

Copy the schedule as text for your photographer and planner, or add your date for a calendar file. Put the budget in order too, with the [wedding budget calculator](/wedding-budget-calculator).

No. 07Questions

Good questions

About the wedding day timeline generator.

Is the wedding day timeline generator free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and the schedule updates as you change things.

Is there a wedding timeline app or itinerary app?

There is nothing to install. It is a web page that works in your phone or computer browser. To get the schedule into an app, copy it as text or download the .ics file for your calendar.

Where do the durations come from?

They are starting assumptions, not rules. Every length can be edited in the schedule, and the blocks after it move to match.

What happens if my schedule does not fit?

You get a warning, not an error. The tool tells you when blocks overlap or when the schedule runs past the end of the reception, and you decide what to change.

How do I add the schedule to my calendar?

Enter your wedding date and press Download .ics. The file has one event per block, at the same clock times wherever you open it. Without a date the button stays off, because calendar events need one.

What does the first look change?

With a first look, group photos are placed before the ceremony. Without one, they come right after it.

Is my schedule saved?

No. It is worked out in your browser and nothing is sent or stored, so copy it or download the calendar file before you close the page.
